Three Tree Montessori School offers a respectful, peaceful, and joy-filled environment in which all children have the freedom to define and fulfill their potential. This encourages all children to explore, learn, and interact in a diverse community that fosters independence, mutual respect, cooperation, self-discipline, critical thinking, and preparation for a life of self-directed work and learning.
Within five years, Three Tree Montessori School will be a nationally certified and recognized AMI Montessori school located in Burien, Washington [as of December 2011, we are now a fully recognized and accredited Association Montessori Internationale school.]. We will continue to provide excellent, secular education through an environment where children effectively and independently pursue developmentally appropriate and academically fulfilling learning in community with others. We will prepare a diverse body of students for their places as stewards of our planet, trustees who serve our communities, and leaders in our global economy. Our methodology will adhere to the most rigorous standards of the Montessori tradition.
Our beautiful school will be a community magnet that draws people in. People attracted to our school will be able to participate in it and be transformed in the process. Our school will offer beautiful indoor environments with extensions to the natural environment. We will have strong toddler, primary, and elementary programs that are culture-rich, locally rooted, globally aware, environmentally responsible, inclusive, and Montessori to the core. Without compromising our Montessori values, we will strive to meet the needs of the families in our community so that children from diverse backgrounds can fully participate in our programs. Our school will nurture students, staff, teachers, and parents physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. By freeing the hearts and minds of our children, parents, and staff, we will learn the meaning of service together.
We will support positive relationships among current student enrollees, graduates, and their families. Our faculty and staff will love to work here. Our fully engaged and dedicated Board of Directors will govern effectively. Because we will be financially secure and stable in terms of staff and programs, we will be able to provide financial aid to families who need it and to secure opportunities for any interested families in our community to participate in our programs. Students will typically remain at Three Tree from early childhood (age 3) through elementary (age 12), and many will begin even earlier in our toddler program (starting at 12 months). We will consider an adolescent program (middle school) depending on our enrollment, facilities, and finances. Our adherence to Montessori traditions in a modern context will make us an inspiring example to other schools in our community and across the nation.
