Primary
Program: Ages 2 1/2 through 6 years
We offer a challenging
and broad curriculum to primary age children as we continue the values
and principles established in the toddler environment.
Children in the
Primary program experience a clear routine each day, but within that
routine they have the freedom to choose their own activities and pace
themselves rather than having to conform to a strict schedule imposed
by adults.
During class time,
the children are free to choose work to do and receive lessons in small
groups. The Montessori materials are set out attractively on shelves
at the children's height so the children may select what they are most
drawn to during any given work session. The Montessori teacher guides
each child through the natural progression of materials giving lessons
in the order that ensures appropriate development.
While in school,
your child will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge

An important part
of the Primary child's day centers on the midday meal. The children
set the tables with place mats and napkins and pour the milk. Once lunch
is completed the children clean up their area, wash the tables, sweep
up the crumbs and get ready to go outside.
In the afternoon,
the older children resume their work in the classroom while the half
day children depart and the under 4½ aged children take a nap.
On a daily basis
we create a dynamic and stimulating yet warm, stable, and comfortable
environment for your child.
